The Undergraduate Research Program

It is in the human nature to be curious about the world surrounding us. Research helps us figure out how to best answer the questions we have about our world. The Undergraduate Research Program promotes engagement in research activities on the undergraduate level on SDSU campuses. The program links research resources between student and faculty, works with departments and colleges to support undergraduate research, and connects with other programs in the Division of Undergraduate Studies to support student engagement and student success.

We promote

  • student engagement by facilitating participation in undergraduate research activities
  • faculty engagement in mentoring undergraduate research activities
  • facilitating and supporting new initiatives in various forms of undergraduate research activities on campus
  • documenting best practices in undergraduate research on our campuses

We do this by …

  • linking available resources between student and faculty
  • creating new programs that will support undergraduate research
  • supporting faculty to engage students in undergraduate research
  • working with departments and colleges to initiate, implement and sustain undergraduate programs
  • connecting departments and colleges with other entities on campus that facilitate undergraduate research
  • connecting with other programs that support undergraduate research within the Division of Undergraduate Studies, for example, Faculty-Student Mentoring Program, Compact Scholar Program, Honors Program, Academic Scholarships Program, and the Study Abroad Program.
